"Melty Summer" print for Disney XD

As you may remember, I did a little animation for Disney XD a couple years ago. A few months ago, I got a call from my old friends there, asking if I’d like to design a print for them. Their summer graphics package is actually called “Melty” so it made perfect sense for me to work on this project.

Just like the art for the animation (and everything else I do), I did an ink drawing by hand. We scanned it in and then colored it digitally. They sent the file to old school iconic screen printers Modern Multiples to print them. This is my second time working with Modern Multiples; the first print they created for me is available here.

This is the first time that Disney has created a silkscreened print. Of course, I love the tactile nature of screen-printing; the bright colors, the deckled edges, the thick cotton rag paper.

How do you get one? Well they’re not for sale; you just gotta get lucky. Several attendees to SDCC last month got them at a couple panel discussions that Disney XD did. As for the rest, it’s hard to say!
