I just returned from 10 days in Italy (and Switzerland). My good buddy, and fellow street artist, Galo invited me to have a show at his gallery in Torino. Since the beginning of the year, I've been doing a lot of writing about my work (which will be published soon) and this show was the perfect opportunity to explore those newly-defined concepts. For the paintings, I focused on multiple paintings in three series: Impossible Decree, Motley Meties and self-portraits. They all explore different ideas, but they are all meticulously painted as usual. Actually, a lot of the new paintings feature a super fine glitter; it's really hard to photograph so you really have to see them in person.
For the installation in the gallery, I did a lot of pre-planning (including making a 3D model of the space). I haven't done a lot of painting inside a gallery in a while, but I wanted to for this show. I really wanted to create a unique environment for the pieces to live inside of.
The opening reception was great. We had some gelato for people, which was fun. For me, it was really great to see people examine the details of the paintings. As usual, some people thought they were created digitally or through some sort of mechanical process.
I'm really happy with the final result. Galo was amused that I spent hours (and then more time the next day) taking photos of the exhibition. So here you see my vision, in various forms.
